A moment for biotech 🔬
What a week for funding reports in Barcelona! Local startups and scaleups raised over €185M, with SpliceBio securing the largest biotech round in Spain to date.
Our data from the first half of 2025 shows BCN biotechs have so far raised over €170M. Even without the megaround above, Catalan biotech funding has still exceeded the rest of Spain’s totals by over €20M this year. Fueled by top-class research and innovation centers like BSC, IBEC, IRB, and Barcelona Science Park, it seems the city is solidifying itself as a leading biotech hub in Europe 👏
