Barcelona's Weekly Tech Update
By Scott From Barcinno • Issue #471
Hello folks,
This week’s main headlines:
€300M microchip factory in Catalonia 💻
BCN startups raise €10M 💰
Barça launches eco NFT 🖼️
Spanish startup temperature check 🌡: up or down?
At Barcinno, we like to be cheerleaders of the ecosystem. Yet, this week we’ve got some not so fun stories, with strong opinions/experiences shared about unicorns / previously mooted unicorns in Spain. This includes Typeform (BCN) facing headwind, Domestika (Madrid) scaling down with rumored questionable employer practices, and Mr Jeff (Valencia) going from next-unicorn to bankruptcy. Clearly, the tech ecosystem is facing multiple challenges resulting from inflation, economic slowdown, investment drop-off and in many cases, startup valuation resets.
At the same time, challenges create opportunities. Badi for instance hasn’t been immune to the current climate, but has seemingly made adjustments that put it on a much better track than before. And entrepreneurial activity in Spain is back to pre-pandemic levels as well.
So with Q2 reaching its end and summer around the corner, we want to gauge the startup climate right now. Please vote below to help us get a “temperature check” of the Spanish startup ecosystem. Results will be shared next week.
How do you feel about the current climate of Spanish startups? |
The Happiness ROI Programme: Week 8
Powered by The -C- Coach, in collaboration with Barcinno, and OneCoWork.
This week, we’re continuing to explore our fourth wellbeing pillar: setting boundaries. I'm sharing one of the stories you submitted, and this time with permission from Luis. My guidance includes a step-by-step guide that you can use to practice communicating your boundaries.
Dear The -C- Coach,
"I want to improve the way I communicate with people when they overstep my personal boundaries ... I find myself in paralysis mode. I can't tell people how I'm feeling in the moment when they say things to me which I feel are really inappropriate or rude to me...."
Thanks again Luis for sharing a vulnerability publicly with the community! Please keep sharing your stories with us, so we can learn and grow together.
Next week, we'll be exploring our fifth and final wellness pillar of the Happiness ROI programme: Joy! Don't miss the penultimate installment of our journey.
Remember, please contact me any time if you need further support or guidance on the Happiness ROI Programme.
With heart and integrity,
Mehibe,
The -C- Coach
Have a great long weekend!
